Parador de Tortosa - Nights 1 & 2

Tortosa sits above the river Ebro, inland from the mouth of the estuary, protected by the 10th century castle that stands majestically above the town, which is where you will find the Parador. Tortosa's town centre features well-preserved examples of medieval, renaissance, baroque and modernist architecture which are best explored on foot. Highlights include the La Suda Castle (the Parador), the 14th century Gothic cathedral and the Episcopal Palace. The Ebro delta nearby is very popular with birdwatchers. North of the town is Tarragona, along the coast, with its small Roman amphitheatre.
As you drive south, do take in the castle of Papa Luna at Peniscola, set at the end of a scythe-shaped beach that reaches out into the Mediterranean and famously the backdrop for Charlton Heston's 'El Cid'. We also recommend a visit to the city of Valencia with its excellent Arts and Sciences district, as well as an attractive historic centre and cathedral, and extensive beaches.

Parador de El Saler - Nights 3 & 4

El Saler Is located just south of Valencia, alongside the rice fields that provide the famous rice for paella, which hails from this part of Spain. The Parador has a wonderful golf course which has been used for national and international tournaments, and backs onto the beach enjoying marvellous views all around.
Valencia is a simple day trip from here, or for those looking for a more peaceful break to connect with nature, the National park of Albufera with its boat trips and walks is also nearby.

Parador de Jávea - Night 5

This section of Spain's Mediterranean coast has some of the best and most consistent weather almost all year round, so its beaches and coastal restaurants remain quite busy even throughout much of the off season, and the coastline is made up of fishing villages and resorts such as Gandia with its Ducal Palace. The Parador has a very relaxed and attractive setting by the beach, you can enjoy beautiful views and walks here.
