What is a Parador?

Founded at the start of the 20th century, Paradors (or Paradores de Turismo as they are known in Spain) are a source of pride for many Spaniards and a unique concept which has expanded to 98 properties across Spain (and one in Portugal).

These buildings, most of which are historical properties, were purchased by the Spanish government and transformed into wonderful hotels with superb restaurants.
