Parador de Lleida

The Hotel

17th Century Convent (4*)

The Parador de Lleida occupies the 17th century Convento del Roser in the heart of Lleida and comprises two buildings: the 19th century church which houses the Parador’s restaurant and the former monastic living quarters where you will find the bedrooms. Originally home to a Dominican Order, over the years the convent has had many uses, but primarily as a centre of education serving as a senior school, faculty of law and a school of fine arts, among other disciplines,

The Parador de Lleida's stylish décor complements the historic nature of the buildings, with the furniture well placed within the indoor courtyard lounge space, framing archways with stylish curtains and plants. You can find comfortable seating throughout the Parador’s communal areas, perfect for relaxing in the charming surroundings. The Parador has 53 bedrooms leading off from the cloisters, decorated in a comfortable, classic style. Neutral colours create a bright and airy space and the rooms feature all the modern comforts you would expect of a high standard four-star hotel including a mini-bar, TV, air conditioning and heating, and a hairdryer. The Parador’s restaurant is located in the old church which makes for a unique dining experience and the kitchen offers a mixture of international dishes and traditional regional fare including Lleida's famous snails, typical sausages, casseroles and a selection of local wines.

Please note the Parador's front entrance opens onto a pedestrianised zone. If you are arriving by car, you must make your way to the Parador's garage on 21-23 Carrer la Palma at the rear of the Parador.

Local Area

The Parador is situated in the centre of the Lleida within easy walk of the main attractions such as the Seu Vella (the Old Cathedral of Lleida) only 10 minutes away by foot. This hill-top Cathedral’s construction began in the 13th century and is built in a Gothic-Romanesque style. As well as being the ‘symbol of Lleida’ the Cathedral’s high position offers fantastic views across the city.

An ancient city, Lleida traces its roots back the Romans and was an important Iberian municipality in 5 BC, you can see sculptures dedicated to important Iberian figures in the city. Like many cities in Spain, Lleida has been occupied by various cultures throughout history with each leaving its mark through interesting architecture and artefacts. Near to the Seu Vella you can find remains of an ancient city wall dating back to the 9th century Arab occupation and the remainder of Lleida’s historic quarter has picturesque corners such as Plaza de la Paeria, where you will find the city hall, a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture from the 13th century. You can find the Cathedral de Lleida, which is the new Cathedral, less than 5 minutes away from the Parador. Located in Lleida's commercial centre, it dates back to the 18th century and is built in a Baroque style with two flanking bell towers, joined by a terrace with a balustrade. Other buildings which are worth visiting are the Hospital of Santa Maria which is a former convent well-known for its Gothic interior courtyard. You can also visit the 19th century Casino Principal, the Episcopal palace and the 13th century church of Sant Lorenç which is Romanesque in style with many Gothic additions.

One of Lleida's most famous traditions is the annual snail-eating festival the Aplec de Cargol. Snails are a staple of the typical cuisine in Lleida and can be found in many restaurants, during the festival hundreds of kilos of snails are eaten.

Lleida can be easily reached by train as it is only around an hour from Barcelona Sants Station. It's location makes it a great rest stop for those travelling west from Catalonia through Aragón and to the northern coast.
