Flying into Porto airport enables you to head north to the lovely town Guimarães, one of Portugal’s historical gems commonly known as ‘birthplace of Portugal’ and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can enjoy exploring its charming cobbled squares.
From here you head to the charming coastal town of Viana do Castelo where you can enjoy fabulous views of the ocean and town from this hilltop Pousada before heading to Ponte de Lima and into the stunning Geres National Park.
Amares is the next stop on this route and here you can make the most of both the nearby natural surroundings and nearby historic villages such as Braga, located only 16km away and overlooked by the beautiful Sanctuary of Bom Jesus.
From Amares you will head south and your final night two nights will be spent in Viseu's wonderful Pousada which occupies an 18th century neo-classical hospital. Viseu is a busy provincial town with a lively cobbled centre full of artistic treasures, historical churches and a strong culture of local crafts.
