This route takes you from the beautiful coastal surroundings at the Portuguese border, up to the magnificent city of Santiago.

Suggested access airports: Santiago/Porto

Parador de Baiona - Night 1

The town of Baiona is filled with history. Its origins dating back to the Roman era, although the most notable date in its history is 1 March 1493. On this day there arrived in the port the caraval known as the Pinta, and Baiona became the first town in Europe to receive news of the discovery of America. In this lovely coastal town there is much to see, including Sta. Maria de Baiona Church; Monterreal Fortress, home to the Parador; Trinidad stone cross; a magnificent old quarter; a seaside esplanade with a very important marina, among other sights. The surrounding area also offers a number of very lovely spots such as Mount A Groba, from which the rias of the Rías Baixas region appear as a sober and colorful watercolor, with Cape Sillero and the nearby Cíes Isles.

Parador de Pontevedra - Night 2

Pontevedra offers an extremely beautiful old quarter. Highlights include Cinco Ruas Square, Sta. María a Mayor Basilica, Do Peirao Square, Do Burgo Bridge, De Pedreia Square, and more. We also recommend visiting nearby towns such as Crove, San Xenso, la Toja and Combarro, with their ancient hórreos (raised granaries), as well as Pontevedra itself.

Parador de Santiago de Compostela - Night 3

Santiago is a World Heritage City, and offers travelers any number of sites to visit: Obradoiro Square with its beautiful cathedral, the university’s square, the ruas along which you can stroll and experience the life of the city’s inhabitants, palaces and churches, and museums such as the cathedral museum, Museum of the Galician People, or the Galician Center for Contemporary Art. You cannot help but be seduced by this city.
