Parador de Sigüenza - Night 1

The first night will be spent at the Parador de Sigüenza, an imposing castle which cannot fail to impress on your approach and perhaps one of the most emblematic Paradors. Sigüenza can act as a wonderful base for exploring the UNESCO centres of Segovia to the west, or of Alcalá de Henares to the south when you arrive - both of which have important historic centres to visit. Segovia is beautifully dissected by the impressive Roman aqueduct and has a lovely central Square (Plaza Mayor) and enchanting Alcazar (rumoured to have inspired Disney's Cinderella castle).  Alcalá is also home to elegant architecture, a historic university and his the birthplace of writer Miguel de Cervantes, you can even visit the Cervantes House Museum.
En route to Sigüenza you may then wish to stop off in Guadalajara or the charming town of Medinacelli, a little further east of Siguenza, which is well worth a visit for its rich architecture and history including its art museum and ducal palace, triple Roman arch, and artistic heritage from Spain’s three most significant religions (Christian, Jewish and Muslim).

Parador de Molina de Aragon - Night 2

Strike out through the lovely back country in the direction of Molina de Aragon famous for its castle, and its Parador, which opened in 2025. This is your opportunity to explore historic towns and villages, and some very beautiful scenery, off the beaten track. The Parador has superb views of the castle standing over the town of Molina de Aragon, and you can enjoy time on its panoramic terrace taking in the views.

Parador de Teruel - Night 3

As you head from Molina de Aragon, just one hour away is the town of Albarracin, a must-see location which has been declared a National Monument, it is one of several stunningly beautiful mediaeval towns in the area. The old city walls stretch up the hillside, and the cathedral and the terracotta rooftops of the old houses stand out in wonderful contrast to the green hills that surround it. This town seems timeless and it is set in very picturesque scenery of the Sierra nearby, with secluded hermitages, caves with cave paintings, waterfalls and lovely walks. The view of Albarracin is particularly lovely at dusk when the town is spectacularly illuminated.
Then on to Teruel, with its famous Mudejar cathedral tower and striking historic centre where you can views the the imposing remains of the ancient aqueduct. Known as the city of lovers, Teruel is home to a famous story of star-crossed lovers whose united tombs in the San Pedro Church is a popular attraction.  The town is also particularly well-known for its serrano ham so make sure to try some during your visit.
If you have the time when you leave Teruel, do consider stopping in Cuenca, another architectural gem of a town, famous for its hanging houses set into the rocks by the gorge. It has its own lovely charm and is well worth a short stop.
