This holiday combines the majesty of the city of Santiago with the stunning coastal location of the Parador at Baiona on the coast. It will also be possible to add on 2 nights at the recently opened Parador at Muxia, close to Cape Finisterre.

After having to cancel groups in the Autumn of 2020 and February 2021 due to Covid19 we are very much hoping to be able to travel in September and October 2021 and are  pleased to have booked accommodation at some of our favourite Paradors. Inevitably prices have risen this year but we have made every effort to keep them as low as possible.

On each holiday most dates are booked for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast with drinks included and on one night with a tapas supper, including drinks, as an alternative to dinner. Occasional nights are booked for B & B only as stated on the itineraries.

Extra nights can be booked before or after each holiday at Paradors or other hotels that we know and recommend. Various options are given at the end of the day to day itinerary below.

Airlines have a habit of changing times of flights but these are the times listed for the dates below.

SUNDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER:  Fly to SANTIAGO and transfer to the 5* Parador in the city centre beside the Cathedral. After checking in there will be a welcome drink followed by dinner in the Parador.

MONDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER: A day in Santiago with a guided tour of the historic centre in the morning and then the day and evening will be free to have time to absorb all that this amazing place has to offer and  to sample the local restaurants close to the Parador. (Dinner is not included).

TUESDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER: Free time in the city before leaving for a coastal drive with time for lunch, or maybe some wine-tasting, at Cambados, the capital of the Albariño wine region. After a stop at Playa de Lanzada, one of Galicia’s loveliest beaches we shall continue to the Parador at BAIONA for a 4-night stay. The spectacular fortress stands on a headland surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean.  Dinner will be in the Parador.

WEDNESDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER: A day to explore the town, walk round the castle walls, visit the replica of “La Pinta”, one of Columbus’ first fleet, or simply relax by the pool in this beautiful place. Weather permitting we can arrange a boat trip to Las Islas Cies, a group of islands with National Park status. The evening is free to have a chance to sample the local restaurants, or have dinner or a bar snack in the Parador.  Dinner is not included.

THURSDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER: This is a day to explore the southern part of Galicia known as “Rias Baixas”.  After visiting Playa de America there will be a visit to Tui where there will be time for lunch before continuing to a bodega in the Albariño region close to the River Miño which separates Spain and Portugal. En route back to the Parador there will be a stop at the Celtic village and hermitage at Monte Santa Tecla.  The day will end with a tapas supper in the Parador.

FRIDAY 1ST OCTOBER:  This will be a free day until the evening when there will be a farewell drink followed by dinner either in the Parador or at “Restaurante A Pinta” within the grounds of the Parador.

SATURDAY 2ND OCTOBER: Mid-morning departure to drive to Pedrouzo on the Camino de Santiago from where it will be possible to have a short walk on the Camino or have time in the town for lunch. There will then be a drive along the Camino  to collect the walkers and continue to Monte do Gozo, on a hill where pilgrims have their first sight of the spires of the Cathedral. This is close to the airport to check in for the evening flight.

Flight from Dublin on Friday 24th September is 16.00  – 19.20

It would be necessary to take a taxi on arrival from the airport to the Parador, on the coast close to Cape Finisterre, for a 2-night stay. I would meet you at the Parador and then there would be transport provided on Sunday to the Parador in Santiago to be able to spend the afternoon in the city before the others arrive in the evening.

This option depends on at least 8 people wishing to add on the extra nights at Muxía.  Reservations will be made at the time of booking so prices will be given on request.
